King's Think Tank invites you to a panel discussion on tackling London's air pollution crisis Thursday 24th November 2016 6pm to 7pm.
Air pollution is a silent and latent killer. Up to 10,000 Londoners die from air pollution every year and our capital city regularly breaches legal limits for harmful emissions. Thousands of children have had their lung development impaired by London’s appalling air quality, which is costing the taxpayer several billion each year. It is now time to confront this deadly pollution crisis and clean up London's air.
Our expert panel will examine the extent, causes and impact of air pollution in the capital and discuss what can be done by local and regional government, as well as the public, to tackle it. We will be joined by:
- Jenny Bates - Air Pollution Campaigner, Friends of the Earth
- Sean Beevers - Senior Lecturer in Air Quality Modelling, Environmental Research Group, King's College London
- Elliot Treharne - Air Quality Manager, Greater London Authority
- Laurie Laybourn-Langton - Research Fellow, Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR)
Please RSVP to save your place, and tell all your friends about what should be an interesting and informative event. We look forward to seeing many of you!
This event is being organised by the Energy & Environment Policy Centre at King's Think Tank, in partnership with King's Sustainability.
