We are seeking a talented Research Associate in Atmospheric Modelling, who is familiar with multiscale air quality modelling with a chemical transport model (CTM), preferably CMAQ, and a local scale model such as ADMS, to join our Environmental Research Group (ERG).
You will undertake air quality modelling using a chemical transport model (CTM) model, preferably Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model, and a local scale model such as ADMS, for both policy interventions and academic research.
The post is developmental and is therefore expected to change over time to reflect the overall functioning of the ERG.
Duties and responsibilities
To undertake detailed model assessments using a CTM or CMAQ for private companies, research councils and NGO's.
To develop methods and datasets for use with the model to address priorities within the group.
To develop model bias correction methods, where knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning or data assimilation techniques would be desirable.
To write reports for clients and journal papers in high impact scientific journals.
To present at national/international conferences and meetings.
To apply for research funding through fellowship and grant applications.
To contribute to the research activities of ERG and more widely with external partners.
To undertake other duties as may be required from time to time.
