Measuring the air quality impacts of the Silvertown Tunnel

silver Three new sites measuring nitrogen dioxide have recently been added to the LAQN, two in Newham and one in Greenwich. The sites have been installed by AECOM for Transport for London (TfL) as part of the wider monitoring programme for the Silvertown Tunnel project. The monitoring sites are close to the Silvertown Tunnel, currently under construction, which will connect the Greenwich Peninsula with the Silvertown area of Newham, due to open in 2025. Data from these sites and all LAQN sites are available at www.londonair.org.uk.

The roadside monitoring sites will supplement data collected from an additional 35 diffusion tube monitoring sites that have also been installed in connection with the project. The data will help assess the impacts of the Silvertown Tunnel when operational and inform a baseline report on air quality before the scheme opens. We are sure these three new sites will make a valuable contribution to the network and are pleased to welcome them.
